Nik the Logman is a crazy half-Lugan wordslinger who will be the first to tell you he’s full of shit. A good-natured antagonist by experience, he is the author of local horror favorites Today Was Friday and Kin, and also the mini-cult classic Jekieu’s Child, but has recently expanded his repetoire, drawing elements of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, mystery, and romance genres into his cockeyed worldview.
A graduate of Columbia College Chicago’s legendary Fiction Writing program, Nik is currently seeking a reconciliation between the experimental artist, out to push boundaries, and the desire to tell stories that people actually want to read, all the while incorporating his unique sense of humor. This tearing-out-your-hair process pleases and challenges him, somehow.
Nik claims to hear voices, mostly likely the characters of his tales, all of which scream over each other for his attention. Currently, the loudest belong to a proctologist and his almost-girlfriend, who are the folks at the center of Redheads and Bubblegum, Nik’s upcoming 7th novel.
When not with his imaginary friends and enemies, Nik enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife, Margie, and their menagerie of pets: Rand the Viszla, Taz the Sociopathic Bunny, and Marvin Van Beek, the coolest parakeet in the land. He also enjoys hockey, arguments, and making people laugh.
Dear Logman Nik,
I love what you’ve done to the page! My artsy side gives you a thumbs wayyyyyy up. Love ya like a brotha.
